CT University Researchers Chosen for Prestigious Japan Research Exchange

School: School of Allied Health Sciences

Teikyo University Applauds CTU’s Breakthroughs in Biomedical and Neuroscience Research

In a moment of immense pride for Indian academia, two distinguished researchers from CT University Dr. Vir Vikram and Kaunava Roy Chowdhury have been invited by Japan’s esteemed Teikyo University to participate in an exclusive International Research Exchange Program.

This prestigious invitation stands as a powerful testament to CT University’s rapidly growing global footprint in scientific research and innovation.

The program will be hosted by the renowned Institute of Medical Mycology at Teikyo University and will focus on advanced biomedical research in infectious diseases using the silkworm model.

This experimental model is at the frontier of biomedical science, offering ethical, efficient, and highly promising alternatives to traditional vertebrate testing methods.

The invitation was formally extended by Dr. Atsushi Miyashita, a globally recognized expert in antifungal immunobiology.

Dr. Miyashita acknowledged CTU’s significant contributions in the field of biomedical science, particularly in the use of Drosophila and zebrafish models to explore neurotoxicology and ecotoxicology areas that hold profound implications for human health and environmental sustainability.

As part of this academic exchange, Dr. Vir Vikram and Chowdhury will spend two weeks at Teikyo University engaging in hands-on training with cutting-edge experimental techniques and collaborating with some of the world’s most accomplished scientists.

The engagement is expected to strengthen the academic and scientific ties between India and Japan, while opening new avenues for joint research, co-publications, and future international projects.

Teikyo University will sponsor the entire cost of research, travel, and accommodation for both researchers, highlighting its strong commitment to global academic partnerships.

In addition to this support, the CTU scientists have been awarded a financial grant of 400,000 Yen to further their ongoing research in neuroscience a field that continues to be a cornerstone of CT University’s scientific focus.

Speaking on this proud occasion, CT University Chancellor S. Charanjit Singh Channi expressed deep appreciation for the recognition accorded to the university’s research community. “This invitation is a shining example of the strides CTU is making on the international academic landscape.”

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Vir Vikram, Principal of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at CTU, shared his excitement about the opportunity. “To be part of a program of this calibre is an honor and a humbling experience. It’s not only an opportunity to deepen our scientific understanding but also to represent CTU and India on a global research platform.
