CT University Celebrated National Sports Day with India’s National Tug of War Team

To commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand, CT University celebrated National Sports Day 2025 with remarkable zeal and enthusiasm.

The celebration was aimed at instilling the values of sportsmanship, fair play, and fitness among the youth.

The program began with a solemn pledge to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship, taken by all participants and faculty members. The entire celebration was coordinated by Gurdeep Singh, Head of Sports, along with the dedicated Sports Team, under the able guidance of Director, Student Welfare, Er. Davinder Singh.

This year’s celebrations witnessed active participation of more than 250 students representing 10 schools of CT University. The students enthusiastically competed in various sporting events including Chess, Table Tennis, Tug of War, and Swimming.

Adding to the grandeur of the event, the Indian National Tug of War Team graced the occasion and interacted with students, sharing their experiences and motivating them to adopt sports as an integral part of life.

The competitions saw some thrilling performances across chess, table tennis, tug of war, and swimming. The School of Engineering dominated in chess, while the School of Management Studies and School of Engineering & Technology shone in table tennis. Tug of war victories went to Engineering & Technology (Men) and Allied Health Sciences (Women), while Hotel Management, Airlines and Tourism excelled in swimming.

With consistent achievements in multiple events, the School of Engineering and Technology was crowned the Overall Champion.


Speaking on the occasion, Director, Student Welfare, Er. Davinder Singh said,
“Sports not only build physical strength but also cultivate discipline, leadership, and unity. It was heartening to see such overwhelming participation from our students. The presence of the Indian Tug of War Team added a motivational spark to the event.”

Vice Chairman of CT University, Harpreet Singh, appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and the enthusiastic participation of students. He remarked,

“CT University has always promoted holistic development through academics as well as sports. Celebrating National Sports Day is our tribute to Major Dhyan Chand and a reminder for our youth to remain fit, focused, and determined.”

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony for winners and participants, spreading the strong message of fitness, discipline, and unity through sports.
