CT University Leads Large-Scale ‘My Waste, My Responsibility’ Awareness Drive on Campus

Mayor Inderjit Kaur & MC Zonal Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon Encourage Students to Become Swachhta Champions

CT University today hosted a major awareness event under the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana’s ongoing ‘My Waste, My Responsibility’ campaign, aimed at strengthening solid waste management practices among youth.

The event, led by Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur, witnessed active participation from hundreds of students who pledged to take the message of responsible waste management to their homes and neighbourhoods.

The campaign, conducted across educational institutions of the city, focuses on building a culture of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) and promoting segregation at source.

During the awareness event, students participated in Nukkad Natak, live demonstrations, and presentations that highlighted key techniques like segregation of dry and wet waste, home composting, and recycling.

Mayor Inderjit Kaur interacted with the students and nominated several of them as ‘Swachhta Champions’, motivating them to lead the cause and inspire others toward responsible waste handling.

She emphasized that students and youth are the real changemakers who can transform society at the grassroots level.

MC Zonal Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon, Councillor Indu Munish Shah, and members of the Municipal Corporation’s health branch also addressed the gathering and appreciated the proactive involvement of the university and its students.

The event saw the presence of Chancellor Charanjit Singh Channi, Pro Chancellor Dr. Manbir Singh, Vice Chairman Harpreet Singh, Vice Chancellor Dr. Nitin Tandon, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Simran Gill, Registrar Sanjay Khanduri, and DSW Director Davinder Singh along with other senior officials of CT University.

Chancellor S. Charanjit Singh Channi stated:
“CT University is deeply committed to shaping socially responsible citizens. Hosting this awareness drive is part of our continuous effort to instill environmental consciousness in our students. We are proud to collaborate with Municipal Corporation Ludhiana and contribute to building a cleaner, healthier Ludhiana.”

Vice Chancellor Dr. Nitin Tandon said:
“At CT University, sustainability is not just an activity—it’s a culture we work to embed in every student. Today’s campaign has empowered our youth with practical knowledge about solid waste management. We will continue supporting such initiatives that inspire behavioural change and long-term impact.”

Mayor Inderjit Kaur appreciated CT University for its enthusiasm and acknowledged the efforts being undertaken across the campus, stating that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the city is moving toward improved solid waste management. She urged residents to stop open dumping and hand over segregated waste to authorized collectors or deposit it only at designated static compactor sites.
