School of Law, CT University has successfully concluded its prestigious 3rd (Prof.) (Dr.) B.K Sharma National Moot Court Competition, held from January 23rd to January 25th at its campus. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 32 teams comprising 96 students from across India, showcasing their legal acumen and advocacy skills.
The inaugural session of the competition was graced by the presence of Honorable Justice Mr. Lalit Batra from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, who served as the Chief Guest. Mr. Harpreet Singh, Vice Chairman, CT University and Dr. Abhishek Tripathi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, CT University, also honored the event with their esteemed presence.
The Moot Court Competition, centered around Criminal Law, saw spirited participation, leading to the qualification of four teams for the semi-finals. The final round was adjudicated by a distinguished panel of judges, including Advocate Karan Singh, Advocate Parwinder Pal Singh, and Advocate Deepinder Singh Gill.
The valedictory event, held on the last day, was graced by the presence of Honorable Justice Dr. Ajit Attri, Addl. District and Sessions Judge, Ludhiana. Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi, Chancellor CT University, Dr. Manbir Singh, Pro-Chancellor CT University, and Dr. Abhishek Tripathi, Pro-Vice Chancellor CT University, were among the dignitaries who honored the occasion.
Dr. Simranjeet Kaur Gill, Dean Academics and Principal School of Law, CT University, delivered an insightful address on the workings of the courts, the conduct of lawyers, and the significance of learning through Moot Court competitions. Emphasizing the values of compassion, empathy, and emotional intelligence, Dr. Gill encouraged students to view defeats as opportunities for growth.
The coveted trophy was clinched by the students of TC-04 Amity University Mohali, while the runner-up trophy was secured by the students of TC-25 Kurukshetra University. TC-01 PURC, Regional Centre, Ludhiana, was honored with the Best Memorial Award, and Ms. Shreya from Admus University was recognized as the Best Speaker.
Dr. Manbir Singh, Pro-Chancellor CT University, expressed his appreciation for the successful organization of the event, commending the Moot Court Committee for their dedication and efforts in ensuring the competition's seamless execution.

CT University organised Intra University fest Splash where students from all the eight schools participated in different events. More than 200 students from School of Engineering and Technology, School of Humanities and Linguistics, School of Design and Innovation, School of Education and Physical Education, School of Law, School of Hotel Management and School of Pharmaceuticals and Natural sciences along with School of Management participated in all the events. Splash had various cultural and creative events like Group Dance, Solo Dance, Skit, Punjabi Rasoi, Selfie taking, Collage making, face painting, documentary and the major attraction was Fashion Show. Bawanpreet Singh, a student from School of Management said, “I took part in group dance. Such breaks from study are always entertaining and make us stress free. All my fellow companions were actually very good and we had a gala time in Splash.” “Splash witnessed a different variety of talents in all the students. They did a great job by putting so many efforts. I congratulate all the winners and I even congratulate all the participants because appearing on stage is not always easy. Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Delhi Airport, selected 19 students of School of Hotel Management, Airlines and Tourism, CT University. The students will go undergo 06 months training as part of their course curriculum, which is to be commenced from January, 2019. This training will provide the students hands on exposure of the various aspects of the hotel industry viz, Front Office, House Keeping, F&B Service and Food Production, so essential for their career growth. The students were selected on the basis of their communication skills as well as their academic knowledge about hotel industry.

It was a skill session wherein students from School of Performing Arts participated to #learn the basics of theater and building character in theater. The education must reach every end. CT University’s Directorate of Sports organised International Yoga Day in the university campus by practising yoga and creating awareness about its benefits. The university commemorated the memorable day by organising free yoga camp which was open for all students, parents and general public of the nearby areas. The event was graced by Co-Chairperson Parminder Kaur Channi and Vice Chancellor Dr Harsh Sadawarti and other officials along with faculty and students. Inaugurating the event, Parminder Kaur Channi, said, “Yoga has an extremely strong power to heal stressful mind and body. In current scenario, one needs to input yoga asana in their lives.” Yoga can be fruitful for both students and faculty. It has benefits of calming down the minds and peacefully working along in a busy lifestyle. Vice Chancellor, Dr Harsh Sadawarti said that Yoga, at start of day, is a refreshing agent for moving along the whole day. Regular yoga practice, especially when combined with other stress relievers like walking outside or mindfulness meditation, can help battle many physical effects of stress and anxiety.”

In coding Competition “The Turbo Coders” from CT Group of Institutions Shahpur achieved the overall winner award by developing an “Iot Enabled Risk Monitoring System in Cold Supply Chain”. Team “Breakerz” secured second position by developing an app to reduce food wastage and “Infinity Coders” got third position by developing a text based AI Chatbot.

Dattatray Bhagwan Dhainje has been working in this field for the past 7 years and is helping in Cyber Crime Investigation to various police stations across Maharashtra. He discussed different aspects related to the Cyber Security Techniques, securing the Internet Banking, usage of wallet and shared knowledge about cybercrimes prevailing in the market and much more. In addition to it, he explained how to secure your personal accounts on social media platforms and gave a live demonstration of Genuine Website Authentication.

An expert talk by Guest Speaker- Mr. Muzaffar Hasan, Scientist (ARS), ICAR-Central Institute for Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal (M.P.) was organized in order to celebrate National Science Day, 2022 with a Virtual Informative Session on “Functional foods and plant based beverages”. The speaker deliberated in detail the importance of functional foods and beverages in present time and why these are becoming popular among all, as there is great adoption and wide production being taking place in food industries for such products. He also elaborated methods of preparation of some plant based beverages.

An awareness camp was organized for farmers of village Rurka by School of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, CT University, Ludhiana. It was organized under the direction of Dr. Manbir Singh, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Managing Director of University. The faculty of Agriculture including Dr. Daljit Singh Khurana (Head of School), Dr. Umesh Chandra Sati, Ms. Khushwinder Kaur and Ms. Gurpreet Kaur (Assistant Professor) along with students visited the village for the session on “Direct Seeded Rice” as promoted by the scientists and Government of Punjab. The farmers have been adopting the cultivation of Paddy by puddling method in stagnant water condition, but this has shown negative impacts on soil and water as well as atmosphere causing environmental pollution. Negative effects include destruction of soil structure, soil crusting, reduction in soil fertility, depletion of water table and greenhouse effect leading to global warming due to Methane gas released under such anaerobic conditions. In contrary to this, Direct Seeding of Paddy helps in saving the water, soil structure, fertility, etc. with optimum yield so as to sustain the resources for future generation. The farmers were also acquainted with the cultivation of pulses especially “Moong” which can be easily adopted in crop rotation with Wheat and Paddy as an additional crop and may proof beneficial in improving soil fertility as added by Dr. D.S. Khurana. Along with this he also emphasized on diversification of agriculture. The awareness camp concluded with answers to the queries of farmers and vote of thanks.

To mark the World Optometry Day 2023, CT University organised free check-up camps at Janotra Convent School, Ludhiana in collaboration with Dr. Mohit Kalra, Baba Namdev Hospital and New Golden opticals at Guru Nanak School Dosanjh Moga. More than 400 patients were screened for eye ailments at the camps. At CT University, A skit was presented by the Sankara eye Academy on ‘Role of an optometrist in transforming life’ which revolved around a girl who have defect in vision and how the treatment from an optometrist transformed her life. On this occasion, Dr. Nooruz Zaman (SANKARA EYE HOSPITAL) said “Eyes is very senstive part of body. We can't see the world without it, on this world optometry day we presented a skit that aims to raise awareness of optometry as a healthcare profession and highlight the contribution that the profession makes to ensure the public’s eye health” Dr. Satish Vice Chancellor (off.) said “Optometrists play a crucial role in the eye care system to provide professional eye health services and reduce vision impairment. We provide best education facilities in collaboration with Sankara eye Academy.” On this occasion, Er. CT University attempts Limca Book of Records by preparing 1101 types of Phirnis, After making records of 550 different variety of vegetarian sandwiches, 300 different types of pastas and 198 omelettes by CT Group, CT University today has attempted a Limca Book of Record for making 1101 different types of phirnis by the students and faculty of School of Hotel Management, Airlines and Tourism under the patronage of University in collaboration with Amul, under the marketing brand of Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. 167 ingredients were used to prepare 1101 types of Phirnis. As per the record guidelines, this attempt has been verified by government officials. The Guests of Honour were Chef Nellu Kaura, Founder Chef Kala, Ludhiana; Chef Vishwadeep Bali, MD, Food Masters and Chef Hitesh from Hotel Kipps. In this event, 1101 different types of nutritious and healthy phirnis were prepared by chefs and faculty of Hotel Management students. The ingredients used were basil, beetroot, khas, semolina, quinnoa, etc. The phirnis made will be distributed at NGO Manukhta Di Sewa in Mullanpur.

One day workshop on cake making & décor organized at CT University. School of Hotel Management, Airlines and Tourism organized a one day workshop on Cake Making & Cake decoration at CT University. To give hands-on experience to the students, a number of bakery products such as Cakes, Cupcakes, Muffins and Cookies were made during the workshop. The Dean of School of Hotel Management, Chef Dr. Varinder Singh Rana said that such workshops are very important for better learning of the students and in future many such workshops will be organized. To commemorate the pre-Christmas celebrations, the School of Hotel Management, CT University organised a cake mixing ceremony at its campus. Spreading the cheer along with the budding chefs, the ceremony invited the participation of executive chefs, CT Management and corporate guests dressed in typical Chefs attire of hats and aprons amidst tradition and fanfare. Guests and colleagues together rolled up their sleeves and put their hands in the mixing pots to make a delicious Christmas cake. Chef Nellu Kaura, Founder, Bavarchi Kala, Chef Vishavdeep Bali, Hotel Imperial & MD, Food Masters and Chef Sandeep Kumar, Executive Chef, Bake Fresh Ludhiana were Guests of Honor.

SOHMAT CTU organized Star Chef India-Online Cooking Competition in association with Chefs Association of Fiver Rivers. The primary objective of the event was to focus on Indian dishes and Plating, and further to fill people with positive energy during the lockdown period. There were 256 participants in the first round from across India and 65 participants were selected for the second round, and in the third round, the top 5 selected participants performed virtual cooking through Facebook Live on January 22, 2021. Chief Jury for the event was Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi and the winners were Isha Sherawat (First), Preeti Mundra (Second), Shikha Pole (Third). This mega event of four months duration was sponsored by Chef Kala, Cates, Cornitos and Events justabhi.com.

CT University’s Department of Sports organised ‘2nd CT Premier Cricket Tournament’ under 21 at the Sports Complex, CTU where in 16 teams participated from various academies and schools around Ludhiana. The matches were played in two Pools that is Pool A and B. Under Pool A: Teams were CP cricket Academy, Kular Academy, Bharowal Academy, Kamla Lohtia Cricket Academy, Bharwal Academy, CT Public School Maqsoodan, New Star Academy, Ludhiana. Under Pool B: Sunrise Cricket centre Academy, KCB Academy, Sunrise Cricket Academy, GAD Academy, GNA Phagwara, IPS School, Cricket Club Khosa. After the final match, Kular Cricket Club won with 15 runs and was awarded with cash prize of Rs 21,000/- and Runner up team Cricket Club, Khosa awarded with Rs 11,000/-.Gurveer Singh from Kular Cricket Club won Best Batsman Award. Sandeep Singh from Cricket Club, Khosa won best Bowler Award and Happy from Kular Cricket Club got ‘Man of The Series’ Award. Vice Chancellor, Dr Harsh Sadawarti, congratulating the winners said, “Such platforms let a student bring out his best and can contribute for nation. The need of the hour is not just intelligent youth but fit as well and sports activities are the best for it.”

CT University (CTU) in association with Ludhiana District Chess Association organized a Chess Tournament for Under 19. In this three day chess workshop. 97 students including 61 girls were registered. They marked their performances to fight for saving their queen in consecutive eight rounds. Students from various cities took part in the event. The CTU Managing Director, Manbir Singh congratulated the winners and participants who took part in this first ever chess event organized by the University. He encouraged the students to keep the pace with both study and extracurricular activities. The chief organizer, Dr Pravin Sharma informed that on the first day of the championship, Bhuvesh Mahajan of Amritsar earned 4 points in the fourth round. On the second day of the championship top ranking Amritsar player showcased his excellent performance as also Anmol Bhagat of Jalandhar earned four points as well. Pankaj Arora of Jalandhar , Madhuvesh Mittal of Bathinda and Anju Bansal of Ludhiana, Shobhit Dhingra of Patiala all earned 3.5 points. In the girls section, Jalandhar girls top ranked in the show. In the fourth round, Deepanshi Sharma, Tia Setia, Anvanshita Verma, Lavanya Jain, Trishti Chopra remained leading. Similarly, Vanshika Sharma of Sangrur, Nitya Singhania of Amritsar got 3 points each. The championship is still progressing and the final results will be available shortly, said Dr Sharma. Congratulating the winners Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor, said that chess is the game is of brain and smartness and that the participants who have the acumen turn out to be winners. He congratulated the winners and said that CTU will organize such events in future as well. Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman, Registrar said that CTU holding the temporary membership of AIU, have a plan to organize various cultural and sports events.

The Moot Court Competition is organised in the memory of (Late) Prof. (Dr.) Basant K. Sharma who served as an academician with Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh for more than 30 years. His zeal for teaching and love for community service can still be found amongst his students and the people he worked with. 2nd Prof. (Dr.) Basant K. Sharma Memorial National Moot Court Competition (Virtual) aims at providing a platform to law. The participants will be provided with interactive yet challenging courtroom experience for developing their critical as well as advocacy skills.

Aarti International Industrial Visit-CT University – School of Management Studies students visited Aarti International Ltd.on 06th June, 2022 at Ludhiana. Aarti International Limited is a vertically integrated textile company with manufacturing facilities of Greige Yarns, knitted, Dyed & Printed Fabrics. Annually it produces 37800 tons of Yarn and 10000 tons of Fabric. Aarti International Continuous Achieving the Milestones of Consistency, reliability, traceability and sustainability. The team of Aarti International showed the students how Yarn is manufactured along with the fabric. The team further discussed with the students about various career opportunities in the market. The Company has various reputed buyers like Disney, H&M, Adidas, Enamor, Jockey, etc. The students had great experience visiting the company and they also prepared the project report on the same.

School of Management Studies, CT University organized “Hasta La Vista 2022” for the Final year students to bid them farewell and wish them good luck for the future in The Gully House, Ludhiana. The day was a fiesta devoted to the years spent together with friends and teachers, to reminisce joyous moments. The way the students hosted the program was a true treat to the eyes. As the graduates filled the room, the excitement was palpable and the spirit was strong. This cheerful and heart-warming scenario was witnessed at 1st Convocation of CT University. As many as 1600 postgraduates and graduates of 2018 to 2022 passed out batches were awarded degrees in a convocation ceremony organized in open air theatre, CT University.The Chief Guest for the occasion was Hon’ble Speaker, Punjab Legislative Assembly S Kultar Singh Sandhwan. He delivered the Convocation Address. In his address, S Kultar Singh Sandhwan shared the tale of his success and stressed on the introduction of new technology. School of Law, CT University, Ludhiana celebrated “INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY”Awareness about legal rights was also deliveredLudhiana, September 2022 : CT University, Ludhiana, Punjab organized the different events to celebrate the “ International Literacy Day” like Legal awareness Drive, Distribution of books in villages and Session on Imparting basic legal education to CTU employees.The objective of the initiative was to create the awareness on education among the students and motivate them for achieving their aims in life by getting the knowledge from the books.Legal Aid Cell was active whole day for providing legal services to the poor, marginalized and weaker sections of the society. Fifty persons approached the cell for free legal aid including faculties, transport staff and other staff of the university, regarding their family disputes regarding the awareness of their services. After assessing the problems advices were given to them.Students of School of law also participated in the event with very zest and zeal. Further the Faculties and students of School of Law distributed the books among the needy students of village Pona. Principal School of Law, Dr. Simranjeet Gill Principle of School of Law, took a session of CTU employees (helpers), transport and security officers whose income is less than 3 lacs per year to aware them about their legal rights and informed them about the schemes and policies given by DLSA.Dr Satish Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, CT University appreciated the initiative taken by School of Law and said that Literacy is the birthright of every human being. The visit was aimed at providing them with practical insights into the field of forensic science.The Punjab Police Academy houses three vital divisions: the Forensic Science Lab, Fingerprint Bureau Cell, and Cyber Forensic Training Cell. During the visit, students had the chance to witness various activities in these divisions, gaining firsthand knowledge of forensic science operations.The laboratories primarily focus on the examination of equipment and specimens received from investigating officers, with a special emphasis on the chain of custody. Students were shown how to verify chain of custody details and assess the preservation of viscera packages. The robot boasts a 20-liter tank, six powerful motors, and all-terrain tires, allowing for seamless customization to meet specific field requirements. Its state-of-the-art spraying mechanism ensures precise and controlled pesticide delivery, revolutionizing traditional spraying methods.Dr. Harmeet Singh, Deputy Director of the IPR Cell, emphasizes the pivotal role that robots will play in the future of precision agriculture.
