LL.B. Three Years Professional Course*

Bachelor of Laws is a professional degree in Three years law programme. The prerequisite for pursuing LL.B. degree is a graduation degree in any discipline can pursue after qualifying Class 12th examinations from any stream with Minimum 45% from 12th Class and further 5% relaxation is given to SC/ST. The LL.B course is regulated by BCI and the course is designed keeping up with the latest BCI rules. The programme covers the core areas – Constitutional Law/Criminal & Civil Law/ Corporate Laws.

1ST SEMESTER SUBJECTS

This course introduces students to the nature, meaning, scope and significance of jurisprudence. It examines major schools of jurisprudential thought, concepts of law, justice, rights, duties, sovereignty and legal personality, with reference to leading jurists and their theories.

This course provides an understanding of the Constitution of India, its philosophy, structure and fundamental principles. It covers the constitutional framework, citizenship, fundamental rights, directive principles of state policy, fundamental duties and the relationship between the individual and the State.

This course deals with the principles governing civil wrongs and liabilities arising from tortious acts. It covers general principles of tortious liability, negligence, nuisance, defamation, trespass, strict and vicarious liability, remedies, motor vehicle accident claims and consumer rights and remedies under the Motor Vehicles Act and Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

2ND SEMESTER SUBJECTS

This course provides an advanced study of jurisprudence and legal philosophy. It examines concepts of justice, punishment, rights and duties, possession, ownership, liability, legal personality and the relationship between law, morality and society. It also introduces students to contemporary jurisprudential approaches and their relevance to the Indian legal system.

3RD SEMESTER SUBJECTS

This course introduces students to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), which provides the substantive framework of criminal law in India. It examines the historical development, objectives, scope and fundamental principles of criminal liability, along with general explanations, stages of crime, intention, knowledge, common intention, abetment and related principles. The course also enables students to understand the significant changes introduced by the BNS in comparison with the Indian Penal Code, 1860.

4TH SEMESTER SUBJECTS

This course provides an in-depth study of the substantive criminal offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. It covers offences against the human body, property, public order, public servants, religion, public health and safety, as well as other protected interests. The course also examines relevant principles of criminal liability, punishments, defences and judicial interpretation.

5TH SEMESTER SUBJECTS

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the procedural framework governing civil litigation in India. It covers jurisdiction of civil courts, institution of suits, pleadings, parties, framing of issues, interim orders, execution of decrees, appeals, review, revision and other procedural mechanisms under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908. It also introduces the principles and application of the Limitation Act, 1908.

International Exposure Option

BA LLB is a full time, 5 year, integrated law course, accredited by The Bar Council of India. In BA LLB, the first 3 semesters are dominated by arts subjects and the rest 5 semesters consist of topics related to legal maters, litigation and advocacy. 

Semester Exchange

LLB Course is different from BA LLB as it is a 3-year law degree and it needs students to complete any bachelor's degree before applying.
