CT University BCA Students Give Wings to Innovation with Bird Drone

School: School of Engineering and Technology

Demonstrating creativity and hands-on technological skills, BCA students of CT University have developed an innovative Bird Drone, a compact bio-inspired aerial vehicle designed with a bird-like appearance for discreet aerial operations.

The project was conceptualised, designed and fabricated at the Robotics and Automation Lab by 3rd-semester students Sukhraj Singh, Akash and Sukhmanpreet Singh, along with first-year students Vivek Gogna and Jaiwant Singh.

The drone can operate up to 2 km with a maximum speed of approximately 10–15 m/s, with potential applications in environmental monitoring, aerial observation and lightweight pick-and-drop operations.

Expert Mentorship Drives Student Innovation

The students received technical guidance from Er. Pulkit Sangar, Er. Dharmpreet Singh and Mr. Gurkirat Singh, who also supported the fabrication process, including 3D printing of key components.

Pro Chancellor Dr. Manbir Singh congratulated the students and mentors, saying, The Bird Drone reflects the spirit of innovation we aim to nurture at CT University. When students are given the freedom to experiment, create and solve real-world challenges, they become innovators of tomorrow. I commend the entire team for turning an idea into a functional technological prototype.

Dr. Harmeet Singh, Head, Robotics and Automation Lab, highlighted the drone’s capabilities and said the project reflects the students’ ability to transform innovative ideas into practical prototypes.
