Wrap & Rewrap Fashion Reimagined at CT University

The School of Design and Innovation successfully hosted an inspiring fashion showcase titled “Wrap & Rewrap – Fashion Reimagined,” celebrating creativity, sustainability, and forward-thinking design.

The event stood as a testament to how contemporary fashion can emerge from reinterpreting existing materials, transforming them into expressive, wearable art through innovative design thinking and skilled craftsmanship.

The showcase featured two distinctive themes, each reflecting a conscious and creative approach to fashion. The first theme highlighted innovative ensembles crafted from old blankets, where students explored texture, structure, layering, and form to transform utilitarian textiles into contemporary fashion statements.

Through experimental silhouettes and bold design choices, students breathed new life into discarded materials, reinforcing the idea that sustainability can coexist with high-fashion aesthetics.

The second theme focused on creative draping using traditional shawls, reimagining heirloom textiles into modern silhouettes while preserving their cultural, emotional, and historical essence.

This segment beautifully showcased how tradition and modernity can blend seamlessly, honoring heritage while adapting it to present-day fashion sensibilities.

Together, both themes reflected a harmonious fusion of sustainability, heritage, innovation, and modern design, encouraging audiences to rethink fashion as a responsible and thoughtful practice rather than mere consumption.

“Wrap & Rewrap – Fashion Reimagined” served as a dynamic platform for students to demonstrate their design capabilities, experimental mindset, and commitment to responsible fashion. The event emphasized experiential learning, allowing students to engage hands-on with materials, concepts, and sustainable practices while translating ideas into impactful visual narratives on the ramp.

The fashion showcase also highlighted the institution’s focus on nurturing industry-ready talent, encouraging young designers to view reuse, reinvention, and sustainability as powerful tools in contemporary fashion and future design practices.

The organizers expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the University Management for their continuous support, encouragement, and visionary leadership, which played a pivotal role in the successful execution of the event. Special appreciation was extended to Monu Sharma, Head – School of Design and Innovation, whose guidance, mentorship, and creative leadership were instrumental in shaping the concept and execution of the showcase, inspiring both faculty and students to push creative boundaries.

Dr. Simranjit Kaur Gill, Pro Vice Chancellor, lauded the initiative and stated:
“‘Wrap & Rewrap – Fashion Reimagined’ beautifully reflects our university’s commitment to sustainability, creativity, and experiential learning. It is encouraging to see students reimagine everyday and traditional materials into meaningful fashion expressions while addressing global concerns of responsible design.”

Monu Sharma, Head – School of Design and Innovation Department appreciated the students’ efforts and added:
“The fashion showcase is a remarkable example of how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand. Such initiatives empower students to think critically, design responsibly, and prepare themselves for the evolving demands of the creative industry.”
