Workshop on "Prototype/Process Design and Development

School: School of Engineering and Technology

The Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted a workshop on "Prototype/Process Design and Development" on 16th April 2025 at the A2 Seminar Hall. The session focused on core aspects of modern design methodologies, such as Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), entrepreneurship and prototype development.

The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial application by incorporating interactive video lectures and practical case studies. These methods provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the design-to-production process, including topics like process planning, rapid prototyping technologies, and design validation techniques.

Objectives

  • To familiarize students with the fundamentals of process and prototype design.
  • To introduce modern tools and techniques in CAD and CAM.
  • To demonstrate the application of theoretical knowledge in real-world product development.
  • To enhance practical understanding through video-based learning and case studies.

Workshop Highlights

  • Engaging video lectures that provided visual demonstrations of CAD/CAM workflows.
  • Real-world case studies discussed by Dr. Singh to connect theory with application.
  • Live demonstrations and walkthroughs of prototype development processes.
  • Interactive Q&A sessions that encouraged active student participation.
  • Participation of over 70 students and 06 faculty members
  • Distribution of digital resources and reading materials for further learning.

Conclusion

The workshop successfully fulfilled its goal of equipping students with foundational and practical insights into prototype and process design. It served as an effective platform to integrate academic learning with industry-relevant practices. The interactive format included quiz sessions with hands-on exercises which helped participants gain valuable insights.
