CT University and “The Shelters” Lead Drug Abuse Prevention Drive with National-Level Collaboration

CT University, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, and The Shelters, successfully organized an impactful Awareness Generation Program on Drug Abuse Prevention for university students.

The event was graced by eminent personalities including Padma Shri awardee and former Member of Parliament Hans Raj Hans; S. Sukhwinder Bindra, Special Member, General Council, NISD; Satinder Satti, Director of The Shelters; DSP Jaswinder Singh; and Amanpreet Kaur, Psychologist.

Their presence added immense value to the initiative as they shared powerful insights, real-life experiences, and motivational perspectives that deeply resonated with the students.

Addressing the gathering, Hans Raj Hans emphasized the critical role of youth in shaping a drug-free society and encouraged students to stay focused on their goals while making responsible life choices.

DSP Jaswinder Singh also highlighted the growing challenges of drug abuse at the grassroots level and urged students to stay vigilant, informed, and committed to a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.

Psychologist Amanpreet Kaur stated:
Drug abuse is not just a social issue but also a psychological concern. It often stems from stress, peer pressure, or lack of awareness. It is important for young individuals to prioritize their mental well-being, seek support, and develop healthy coping mechanisms.”

The session focused on sensitizing young minds about the harmful effects of drug abuse, while promoting awareness, informed decision-making, and a culture of well-being and responsibility.

The program also witnessed the presence of key university officials including Registrar Sanjay Khanduri and Director DSW Sanjay Khanduri.

Hans Raj Hans said:

The event concluded with an engaging interactive session between the dignitaries and students, reaffirming CT University’s commitment to fostering socially responsible individuals and contributing actively towards building a drug-free society.
