This course provides an understanding of the structure, functioning and administration of the criminal justice system in India. It examines the roles and responsibilities of the police, prosecution, judiciary, correctional institutions and other criminal justice agencies. The course covers investigation, prosecution, adjudication, sentencing, correction, rehabilitation, victim protection and access to justice, with emphasis on constitutional safeguards, procedural fairness and contemporary challenges in criminal justice administration.
